The Antioxidant Effect, Cell Viability and the Effect to the Gene Expression Using cDNA Microarray Assay of Jengjengamiygin-tang

Abstract
Objectives : This study was undertaken to determine the effect of Jengjengamiygin-tang on antioxidant effect, cell viability and the expression of genes in human stomach cancer cells.
Methods : Antioxidant effect of Jengiengamiygin-tang was compared with. that of vitamin C on DPPH radical, respectively. Cell viability was determiend by MTT assay. Finally, gene expression was evaluated by cDNA microarray assay.
Results :
1. Scavenging effect of Jengjengamiygin-tang on DPPH treated cells were demonstrated by differential antioxidant effect in Jengiengamiygin-tang-treated group at the dose of Img/ml.
2. Cell viability was increased in Jengiengamiygin-tang-treated group at the dose of 100 and l,§/§¢.
3. Among 8000 unigenes, 16 genes were upregulated while 389 genes were downregulated by Jengjengamiygin-tang treatment on human stomach cancer cell line.
Conclusions : Collectively, these results can be used as basic data for development of new anticancer drugs or treatment.
